Fuerteventura
Boat trip for dolphin and whale watching along the coast of Fuerteventura. The oceanographic characteristics of the island of Fuerteventura make this a unique place for whale and dolphin watching.
The Canary Islands, and in particular Fuerteventura, are ideal places for this practice and where, in addition to whales and dolphins, other types of marine fauna can be found.
Recently we have been having an unusually high percentage of blue whale sightings, highly above the historical average, which could indicate, according to international marine biologists, that the blue whale has started to use the archipelago on its migration northwards in spring, and they are going back to tropical waters in autumn.
The ideal place: The waters of the Canary Islands are a privileged place for whale watching.
More than 27 species have been recorded in recent years. Both coastal and oceanic species are found here, being a passage area for migratory species and habitat for other resident species such as the short-finned pilot whale and the bottlenose dolphin.
The latter are the most observed by vessels, as we have a gigantic colony living here.
The 'calderón tropical', also known as the pilot whale, can exceed 5 metres in length and weighs between 1 and 2 tonnes.
The catamaran: The catamaran is 12 metres long and contains two 320 hp engines.
The catamaran has three floors with three bedrooms, a small kitchen, w.c., a living room and a sunbathing area. It can accommodate up to 12 people.
The guide: With our fun guide, available in 4 languages, the outing becomes an interactive session where you will learn the secrets of the ocean and its inhabitants.
Marine biology and emotion go hand in hand in this offer where fun is our main objective.
The activity: We leave the port of Corralejo in the morning or afternoon depending on weather conditions. We will sail for about an hour to the 1000-metre-deep zone, where dolphins live.
When we are in the sighting area, our guide will tell us how to proceed in order to make the sighting a success. Once we find the families we can stay there for no more than half an hour, so as not to interfere with their habitat.
The excursion lasts four hours to allow room for manoeuvre as these are free-ranging species that are not confined to a small area. After the sighting, if there is time to spare, a swim can be arranged at the anchorage at La Concha beach, Isla de Lobos.
Regulations and Blue Ship insignia: The only ship with the Blue Ship insignia, which guarantees that the departure respects all safety conditions for both animals and people on board. It is a badge awarded by the Canary Islands Government as a measure of prevention, protection and conservation of flora and fauna.

Time schedule: from 09:00 to 13:00
