There are many trails that cross the different landscapes of the volcanic island, from walking through the Anaga mountains to climbing the Teide and enjoying a sunrise that will literally blow your mind.
In Tenerife, there are hiking routes to suit all tastes, whether you are a sports hiking enthusiast or simply want to discover the island on a walk in the open air.
Today we present 3 of the most beautiful places to visit on the island, and you will definitely find a route that suits your pace, as Tenerife has more than 150 official hiking trails!
The star hiking spot in Tenerife! Mount Teide is the highest mountain in Spain and rises 3,718 metres above sea level and is known worldwide for its hiking route.
Hikers usually climb it during the afternoon, then spend the night in a hut near the top and then arrive at the summit the next morning to enjoy a breathtaking sunrise.
If you're lucky and there are no clouds, you'll be able to see the whole of the Canary Islands from the viewpoint! Please note that the trail is regulated by the Tenerife Town Hall and you will need a permit to access the top.
You can find more information about this permit on the official website of the Spanish national park.
A beautiful forest in the northern part of the island awaits you! The forests of Anaga are part of a biosphere reserve thanks to their rich biodiversity and their endemic plant and animal species.
Several trails will please both professional and casual hikers, from strolling through the forest, for those who want to take it easy, to walking back and forth to the coast, to visiting the Anaga lighthouse, for the bravest among you!
On our website you will find a guided hiking route, starting at the Pico del Inglés mountain towards the coast of Taganana. An amazing experience for sure!
It couldn't be an article about hiking in Tenerife without mentioning the great hiking route of Masca! An amazing trip in a ravine starting in the village of Masca and ending on the beach near the cliffs of Los Gigantes.
Many hikers choose to go by taxi-boat to Los Gigantes and are surprised by the height of the cliffs (acantilados) as the boat approaches the shore. Other hikers decide to climb back up to Masca, it is a bit difficult but definitely worth it as you can enjoy the canyon from another perspective.
