Route through the Laurisilva Forest on La Palma - Cubo de la Galga

On this tour you can admire the Laurasilva forest of the island of La Palma, known as the Green Island for its main resources such as nature and vegetation.

The Laurasilva Forest, whose origin is in the Tertiary period (more than 20 million years ago), over the years has undergone very few evolutionary changes and will leave you speechless as it seems that time has stopped.

Starting the way you will realize that the trail is located in a ravine, covered by an ancient evergreen forest, with mist from the trade winds (which characterize this area), humidity, temperature and pleasant shadows.

You will have the opportunity to get to know a living relic, it will be like going back in time and walking in the plant formations that covered a large part of Europe during the Tertiary period.

Legend inside the Laurisilva Forest on La Palma

All along the way you will be accompanied by a legend. Once upon a time a beautiful young woman, overwhelmed by the shepherd's insistence on getting her heart, wanted to test his love by asking him for the impossible and thus free herself.

The young woman asked him that before she became his wife, he had to approach the precipice and, resting his hands on his spear, should go around the abyss three times with his body without falling.

The shepherd, in the last jump, lacked strength and fell into the ravine. Dying, thus, to get love.

She lost her mind and did not stop crying until the last days of her life. Since then, the local people call the cliff "El Salto del Enamorado" (The Fall of the Lover) to remember it.
